Transforming Water Access in Kilifi, Narok, and Meru Counties

In collaboration with the National Irrigation Authority (NIA), Skyvast Green Initiative has spearheaded the construction of 670 household water harvesting projects across Kilifi, Narok, and Meru counties. These water storage systems, with a combined capacity of 720,000m³, serve as a lifeline for thousands of farmers and families, ensuring reliable access to water for agriculture, livestock, and household use. This initiative is not just about collecting water—it’s about creating lasting opportunities. By integrating agroforestry, commercial vegetable farming, and ecosystem establishment, we are setting the stage for sustainable livelihoods and environmental resilience.

Because when you bring water, you bring life, opportunity, and prosperity.

Project Benefits

Agricultural & Communal Benefits

  • Expansion of Irrigated Farming – Reliable access to water has enabled:
  • Water for Household Use – Transforming daily life by:Increased crop diversity, allowing farmers to cultivate vegetables, grains, and cash crops.
  • Higher yields, ensuring food security for local communities.More sustainable farming practices, reducing dependence on unpredictable rainfall.

Beyond water access, the initiative has a strong focus on ecosystem restoration. By planting both fruit trees and indigenous trees, we are:
  • Preventing soil erosion and enhancing land fertility.
  • Providing sustainable food sources through fruit production.
  • Encouraging reforestation, improving biodiversity and climate resilience.
  • Enhancing water retention, reducing drought impact on communities.

Livestock Impact

  • Reduced mortality rates—Water scarcity no longer threatens the health and survival of herds.
  • Better nutrition and productivity—With access to clean water, animals are healthier, leading to improved milk and meat production.
  • Minimized seasonal migration—Herders no longer need to travel long distances in search of water, reducing conflict over resources.
  • Stronger local economies—Thriving livestock translates to better market prices, increased income, and enhanced financial security for families.

Boosting Local Economies
