What it is:

The SkyVast Starter Pack (SSP) is the first step in our journey “from scarcity into resilience.” It equips ASAL families with tools to harvest and store rainwater directly from rooftops—providing more than just clean water. With training in kitchen gardening, soap-making, rabbit rearing, and micro-enterprise, each household becomes a self-reliant ecosystem.

The SGI Starter Pack helps women-led and underserved households take control of their water security. Through affordable rainwater harvesting and targeted livelihood training, the Pack empowers families to grow nutritious food, launch small businesses, and improve health — unlocking dignity and opportunity.

Key Features

Rainwater harvesting systems
Rainwater harvesting systems include 5,000 to 10,000-litre tanks installed at household or community level, fitted with gutters, filters, and taps. These systems capture and store rainwater for drinking, cooking, cleaning, livestock, and small-scale agriculture—giving families safe, reliable water access throughout the year.

Kitchen gardening
Kitchen gardens are small home-based plots where families grow vegetables, herbs, and fruits using harvested rainwater. The gardens improve household nutrition with fresh, vitamin-rich produce, reduce food expenses, and offer an opportunity to generate extra income through surplus sales.

Home-based industries
Home-based industries leverage improved water access to power small enterprises such as soap making, rabbit keeping, and other crafts. These businesses are typically run by women and youth, helping families diversify income streams, build financial independence, and foster local entrepreneurship.

Livestock support
Starter Pack households use harvested water to care for poultry, goats, rabbits, and small livestock. This enables healthier animals, consistent food sources (meat, milk, eggs), and increased household income from the sale of animal products—strengthening resilience in ASAL communities.
