In Kenya’s ASAL regions, unpredictable rainfall and degraded land leave many families locked in fragile, single-source livelihoods—often farming alone. Droughts wipe out income. Youth migrate in search of opportunity. Women remain unpaid caregivers, despite managing farms, food, and families.
SkyVast is changing this.
By using water as a springboard, we equip communities with the tools, training, and networks to unlock new income streams—from soap-making and beekeeping to climate-smart farming and eco-enterprise. We center women and youth, ensuring every household can generate sustainable income, adapt to change, and invest in their future.
True resilience begins when income is steady, work is dignified, and no one is left behind.
Livelihood Diversification is the fifth step in our transformation model—building on access to water, health, education, and a protected environment. Now, communities can grow not just food, but futures.
Our programs promote circular, climate-smart livelihoods powered by local ownership and scalable impact.
I learned beekeeping from SkyVast. Now I sell honey, and my income has doubled. My children are in school, and I’ve planted more trees around my home.
After training, I started a small tomato farm with drip irrigation. I now teach others, and our village youth are staying to build something here.
Over the next 10 years, SkyVast aims to spark enterprise across every ASAL county—empowering thousands of families with water-secure, climate-smart incomes. From women-led beekeeping cooperatives to youth-driven agri-tech, our work is shaping a rural economy that is green, dignified, and resilient to climate shocks. We believe that with the right tools and trust, every ASAL household can become an agent of prosperity.
Help us plant 2M trees/year 🌳 and bring clean water to communities.
